5.  Backing up the database files

Request this function by clicking for it on the menu screen.  The saved files will be in the area you designated in the parameters screen.   Ideally this would be an external storage device such as a flash memory stick,  in which case make sure that it is connected via a USB port to your computer before you request a backup.  It is recommended that you perform this function regularly in order to protect against loss of data.  A good example to save this data is to allocate a folder for each year on the flash memory stick.  Thus if the memory stick is on drive e: the backup location for the year 2012 would be e:\consignment\2012.  In this manner you can retain data for each year.


6. Restoring the database files

Request this function by clicking for it on the menu screen.  Be aware that when you go ahead with this, you will lose data entered since the last backup.


7.  Deleting old paid items

Request this function by clicking for it on the menu screen.  It will ask you for a date prior to which you want all paid items to be deleted, followed by a cautionary message. If you agree then qualifying items will be deleted, with a notice of how many were deleted.
